SANUR
Sanur (meaning “the passion to visit a certain place”) is a family resort famous for its sandy beaches and stunning sunrise.
A little more expansive than Kuta and a little cheaper than Seminyak, Sanur is a perfect place for family with kids, but also for surfers looking for a crowd-free spot.
Sanur may be a place of quietness and farniente, but has a far less quiet history. It was the place where the Puputan Bandung, the famous battle against the colonial army of Netherland was held and where brave Balinese warriors gave their life to defend the island against the Dutch invasion.
Sanur is not only a great place to enjoy the beach, but has also pretty interesting stuff: All-female Keris dance is also one beautiful attraction of the area. The Sanur village festival runs from the 15th to the 19th of August. A great time where you will learn a bit more about Balinese culture, with kite flying or Balinese cookery.
The Sanur Community Farmers market will give you the opportunity to give a little green to your shopping habits in Bali. You can buy organic products and home-made bread. This new concept definitely needs to be developed in Bali! Serangan, only accessible at low tide hosts turtle farm, but also the Pura Sakenan, one of Bali’s most sacred temple.
I've heard about the Hash runs before, the group famously known for their tag line of 'drinkers with a running problem' but had never tried a run until coming to Bali. Hash House Harriers or 'hashers' as they are called, have been doing this sort of thing for decades being a non competitive social running club. ...
Once a small village, Kuta is the heart of tourism in Bali, with its good sides and, well, maybe not so good ones. Kuta has got all the commodities one can find in any touristic beach resort: Cheap accommodations and more upscale hotels, wide range of restaurants, warungs, souvenirs shop, travel agencies, etc. Kuta Beach is a good ...
In the Kuta/Legian/Seminyak urban complex, Seminyak and Legian are Kuta’s rich northern relatives of the family: A residential and touristic area offering high-end accommodations, trendy spas, upscale shops and renowned restaurants. Fast growing development, along with a “so-cool-but-so-chic” crowd, have made Seminyak ...
Canggu is a well-known surfing spot, a quiet place to have a drink for sunset or have dinner facing the sea in one of the small restaurants by the beach. Grab your scooter for a relaxing ride if you want to leave Seminyak or Kuta without going too far. It has been, in recent years, one fast developing place in Bali (many villas are ...
Located at the very center of Bali, Ubud is famous worldwide for being the cultural and artistic center of the island. Ubud is a quiet village with a refreshingly cooler temperature and atmosphere. Some travelers go to Ubud to escape from the Kuta’s effervescence, some to quench their thirst for art, some for shopping and sightseeing, ...
